Scrappy Sunday

A weekend of various tech troubles and my son's 10th birthday, but Scrappy Sunday is now up!!! I'm so sorry for the delay... some weeks are just like that I guess.

This sketch is a simple one that can be adapted to digital or traditional scrapping. The sketch is designed for 4 pictures and some elements and journaling, or just up the number of pictures for an easy tweak. Here's my take:

My son's both play baseball, two seasons a year, so I do a lot of sports layouts. Unfortunately, I've had the paper and stickers for some time that are featured here and I no longer remember where they came from! All supplies were purchased at Archivers....

3d43 - Your Check is in the Mail

When I saw this blog post from Kelleigh Ratzlaff, I KNEW what I wanted to do for 3d Tuesday!

I used Kelleigh's directions and instead of a ribbon binding, I used my Bind-it-all. It fits nicely in my wallet and supports this year's resolution to get my finances under control. Now, it's your turn -- create a mini book using one of these envelopes! Kelleigh's got a free download for the template in her store. Tag your photo 3d43 so that I can pull it into our gallery.

3d40 - Plan On It.

Today it's my turn to host the 3D Challenge on Paper Craft Planet.  We are thrilled to have Hope Stamps Eternal as our sponsor for this week, so not only can you make this quick and easy holiday planner -- you can win a prize too!

 

This planner was really simple and quick to make.  I bought the organizer at Target, for $3.99.  The planner came with three tabs and really generous pockets.  The red binding was already there, so all I had to do was just recover the rest of the binder in a coordinating paper.  I covered the inside and outside with Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly patterned paper.  I printed "Christmas Planner," using my word processing program, onto vanilla cardstock and then just cut the shape out with my Labels 9 Nestabilities.  Add some ribbon and label your tabs and you're done!

This week, I'm challenging you to make your own planner.  You can make one to hold birthday cards, as a calendar for next year, to organize your grocery shopping, or get your holidays under control.  Take a picture of your planner and tag your photo 3d40 (all lowercase) so that we can pull your project into our gallery. Fun with Flower Soft

Today Paper Craft Planet has a really fun game to play. The Super Novas all got together and played with the new Flower Soft Snow Globe CD. OMG -- it was SO much fun! I got completely carried away! I'm so excited to share this project with you.... and you can play along and win a prize by participating in a scavenger hunt! Keep reading for instructions on how you can win!

How cute is this?! It's off the Snow Globe CD -- you just print it and cut it out and insert the display globe! I used some Tim Holtz distress ink in straw to create the yellow background and the rest was just glue and fill! I love feeling like I made something fantastic, but really it took me 10 minutes. Hee Hee. Here is the inside. I made this cute pocket to hold a packet of cocoa. I added another Flower Soft snowman to complete the card. It makes me smile just to look at it.

I had to do the inside here too. I'm in love with the snowman...

On the 3rd Day of Christmas...

Welcome to Day Three of our 12 Days of Christmas campaign! For 12 days, the Super Novas will show you awesome and easy gift giving ideas, and you can play along and win prizes by participating in a scavenger hunt! Keep reading for a clue and chance to win!

I had SO MUCH FUN with today's project!!!!! When I found these adorable snowmen images on The Stamping Boutique's website, I knew I had to use them for these dish towels! (My original idea was dinner napkins, but post-Thanksgiving, I couldn't find them.) I love how they turned out and for less than $20, I have a custom gift that will be kept from year to year.

To create these towels, I simply printed the images onto Avery iron-on transfer paper -- I got mine at Target. If you can find the "stretchable" version, buy it -- but any light fabric transfer paper works beautifully. I've successfully colored the images with Copics and pencils in the past, but today, I was having trouble, so I colored them on my computer. I've whipped up a video for you to see how to do this for yourself.

The nice thing about digital coloring is that you color once and save it -- and can print your finished image over and over again. I'm going to print these same snowmen onto inkjet shrink film tomorrow and make wine charms to go with the towels!

3d38, Tag, You're It!

I think I invented a new fold! Check it out -- this week, it's my turn to host the 3D Challenge on Paper Craft Planet.  We're making a tag album for those holiday tags! In 15 minutes, you can assemble this adorable little book and whip up some coordinating tags for a great hostess gift!

Sweet n' Sassy Stamps Challenge

The Supernovas and I all used the new digital stamps for our cards. I picked Noses 4 Sale. Isn't this little guy so cute?!  He's printed on Neehah paper from the Paper Temptress, and then colored with Copics. I added some Ivory Flower Soft for the snow.  The patterned papers are all from the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly collection.  Here's a close up of the little guy:

If you've ever had a chance to play with digital stamps, they are really a lot of fun.  I print directly on cardstock and then spray with a matte sealer to make sure that my Copics don't run the printer ink.  If you wanted to resize your image, you could do that right in your image editing program.  Wouldn't this guy be adorable on a children's t-shirt?

Scrappy Sunday and Scrapbook Saturday -- October 18 - 25, 2009

Hey everyone. I told Jen that I would do my best to post this week's Scrappy Sunday Challenge, while she's out of town. If this gets posted I'll be amazed as I haven't a clue what I'm doing, especially late in night Saturday. :) No worries, all will be back to normal next week & Jen will be back administering this.

This week's sketch might require a bit of rough draft so you can get the journaling around the outside of the page. I think it looks cool ever since I saw Ali Edwards do it on her layouts & if you can do it in your own handwriting, how lovely & personal. Digi scrappers & traditional scrappers, hopefully you'll have some fun with this. I did forget to sketch in embellishments, with all the pics on the page ... um sorry :) I'm sure you'll all be able to find somewhere to put them in (for me I just did it around the photos themselves).

The sketch is in 12"x12" square format, but you can switch it up to fit your scrapbook (flip or rotate the sketch, and move things around a bit, but try to stay true to the basic outline of the sketch. Have Fun!!) I've always scrapbooked in 8.5x11", but the basic square template is there. Anyhow, I hope some of you will have the chance to play along.

Back to Basics, Lesson Eight: Shape Shifting

Hey everyone! Welcome to Lesson Eight of our Back to Basics series! This week we're learning the shape shifting technique. We have another great video to share from Fran, featuring the Jumbo Snowman from Stampendous. If you remember back to Lesson Three, this adorable bag was made using the Jumbo Snowman and the shape shifting technique.

This week, I thought I'd make some fall images to share. I used the Stretchy Spooks set.

For this first card, I used the pumpkin image. I stamped it and then masked it so that I could stretch it and stamp it again in the background.

For this next project, I used Adela's 3d challenge Cookie Box template to make this adorable vellum box! I stretched the Stretchy Spooks ghost so that he formed the sides of the box! Here's a close up of the tag:

Here, I added a LED tea light to the box! Look how he glows!

We'll be having a challenge each week to go along with each lesson. To play along, make a card, scrapbook page or 3D item using the simple stamping technique featured this week. Our featured techniques this week all featured the shape shifting technique. Tag your photo b2b8 (all lowercase) so that we can pull your project into our gallery. Scrappy Sunday and Scrapbook Saturday, on Monday

I'm really sorry about the lateness of this post. I took a much needed day of rest yesterday! Paper Craft Planet's Scrappy Sunday Challenge: Hi! Sorry I missed you guys last week!! Thanks Susanna for taking over for me!! I'm going to be out of town for continuing education for work next week, so I'll have a guest hostess next week as well, so everyone be on your best behavior!! (I'm having flash backs to grade school when the teacher would tell us we were going to have a substitute the next day!! hee hee). This week's sketch was actually designed by one of our former Scrappy Sunday Guest Designers, the oh-so-talented Crystal Livesay! Crystal recently opened up shop at the Digichick and is designing and selling digital templates inspired by her own amazing scrapbook layouts! Check out her store HERE. I've purchased all of her templates packs so far and they are seriously AWESOME!! If you're a digi scrapper and like to use a template, these are definitely a must-have!! The sketch features one main photo with lots of fun layered papers. Those "x"s represent embellishments of your choice. Feel free to include additional photos if you're a multi-photo scrapper, just try to stay true to the original sketch by building off the main focal point. And remember, all forms of scrapbooking - traditional, digi and hybrid are welcome!!
