My favorite layout in ages -- 12x12 of our trip to see the Harlem Globetrotters.  This is a slightly hybrid piece -- the pictures were printed as a collage in Adobe PSE6 and then I attached that to the black 12x12 cardstock and embellished as normal.  This is a great time saver for that growing pile of pictures.

Before I share the BOB list with you, I have a short funny video that was shared with me:

Another great week in the Blogosphere -- stationary sets seem to be all the rage this week.   Here are a few of the highlights from this week:

My favorite project this week was from Bobbi at Bloggin' With Bobbi -- check out this amazing picture frame!  I am SO CASING this!  I love it when homemade projects turn out like this!  I think this frame is priceless.  I'm off to Michael's to make sure that I have one or two of these!

Emily Giovanni, from Stamping and Stuff, shared this adorable mini-book of her boys.  I love these little coaster books and Emily has them down to a science.    Are you a digital scrapper?  If  you are, try quick page templates from the various online scrapbook stores and print the finished product 4x4 -- the perfect size for a coaster!  (Don't give me any credit for the tip -- it's actually an old tip from Emily!)

Debbie Olsen from Thinking Inking made this stationary set.  Debbie was one of the first stamping artists that I fell in love with and she has consistently beautiful work.  I was admiring this set when I realized that I bought the Just Rite Monogram Stamp Set ages ago and it's been sitting dusty on my shelves for ages.  I will tell you that the ideas popping up right now are adorable, but this stamp set is kind of a pain in the neck in terms of set up -- the Papertrey Monogram stamps and the Borders and Corners sets are easier to use, with pretty similar results.

Sharon Johnson at No Time to Stamp also had a great stationary set to share.   I'm glad I discovered I already owned this set... by now, I would have spent money to buy it!!!

OK, now on with our regular program:  Here is the Best of the Blogosphere for this week.  Remember to scroll down to the bottom of the post and hit "read more" to see the full list with pictures.  Also, if you'd like to appear on BOB, I need to be reading your blog!  Post a comment here and I'll add you to my Google Reader.

Happy Birthday!

happy birthday_cropped

Happy Birthday for just about anyone on your list.  I love this card -- it's so simple.

happy birthday_0121

I was flipping through this month's Scrapbooks, Etc., magazine and saw a freebie download for "digital paper".  Basically, you save it and print it on cardstock and you have patterned paper whenever you want.  Here is the link -- the templates download on page 6 of the slides.

I printed the happy birthday paper twice -- one sheet for the card and the second sheet for the box.  The card is accented with the Eat Cake stamp set from SU.

I took the paper for the box and printed the box template on the flip side so that I could just cut it out and assemble it.

Just a little silly laugh

It's 10:30 pm and I'm beat and should go to bed.  Instead, I got sucked into the Internet vortex and found this:

I've been laughing for 10 minutes.  I'm this kind of driver and such a huge catperson.  Let's add immature to the list.

Have a great day!

Scrapbook Saturday

watch the game

My husband and son don't make the best little league basketball fans!  I was up snapping pictures of the game and looked over to discover them both absorbed in their toys.  It cracked me up.

I had this fabulous idea that I could use reinkers and an aquapainter to paint the "Thickers" on this layout.  I was SO wrong.  The Thickers don't absorb the color and it doesn't really dry, so it got on everything.  The muted colors on the letters are from me taking it off the next day with a baby wipe!  I still love the layout.  Next time, maybe I'll use those expensive Copic Markers that are just sitting in my drawer!

Best of the Blogosphere: March 15 - 21, 2008

Check out the new banner :D  I left the Valentine banner up a little too long and started having dreams that people were emailing me to change it.  It's ridiculous.  I think I'm starting to take the whole blogging thing toooooo seriously.

Best of the Blogosphere (BOB) for this week is just jam packed with great stuff.  Special mention to Taylor Vanbruggen over at Taylored Expressions for her stationary set.  I'm absolutely DYING to make one or three for Mother's Day.  I still have all those Papertrey boxes... so really, there is no excuses.

Also, I'm still loving Erika & Donna's "Bake It, Make It & Take It".  I might have to cave in my diet plans and start actually doing the baking portion of the project!

Kristina Werner did an impromptu video straight from work on how to make a 3D origami star in a flash.  You'll be making these -- I promise.  They are too cute.

I found this darling project on SCS, but Qbee doesn't have a blog that I could find.  You'll actually have to check this link out separately -- darling Easter Egg Box.  I have absolutely no time to get this done for Easter teacher goodies, but isn't this so cute?  I'd fill it with baby socks and use the Papertrey Just Hatched set...  Nicole should give me commission.  I think I've mentioned her product three times!

OK, here is the list.  Remember -- hit "Read More" at the bottom of the post if you'd like to see the expanded list with pictures.  If you'd like to be featured on BOB, I need to read your blog.  Comment here and I'll add you to my Google Reader.  You never know, one day you may be reading along and see your own work!!

In the words of Bugs Bunny, "Hey! Baggy Eyes! Tag! You're It!"

Michelle at Nuts for Stampin' tagged me a few days ago. I think of blog tag a lot like the email chain letters that somehow pop up, but what the heck -- I'll play.  At least I'm not going to be disappointed by the 2o recipes that I'll get or the lifetime of good luck.  At the very least, I may make you laugh.

Here are the rules as explained by Michelle (don't worry, Michelle, I won't tag you since you've been tagged already):

Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
• Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog
• Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
• Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

OK here goes . . .

  1. I HATE spiders.  I LOVE Spider-man.

  2. I'm a total girly-girl and mother to only boys.
  3. My boys are the coolest kids in the world. (That's my humble, unbiased opinion.)
  4. When I grow up, I want to do exactly what I'm doing now.
  5. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my friends.
  6. Jimmy Buffett is the personification of "living the dream".
  7. I love paper crafting because I love making something that you can finish in under an hour.

Now for those I'd like to tag:

  1. Erika at Stampin' Mama started this new AWESOME feature on Fridays (she calls it "Bake It, Make It and Take It").  Her mom (her blog is Spatulas, Corkscrews & Suitcases) bakes the goodie, and Erika packages it.  I'm bookmarking everything for the holidays.
  2. Kristina Werner, at KWerner Design Blog, makes me live for Mondays for MACM --that's Make a Card Monday.  Every Monday, she presents a card made from start to finish in a video, set to awesome music.   I change my answer to fact #4 -- I want to be Kristina when I grow up.
  3. Nicole, over at The Stampin' Librarian, and I met (in the online sense) when we both took Jessica Sprague's online classes for Photoshop Elements.  I started following Nicole's blog and have been a HUGE fan ever since.  She updates frequently and always has great content.  You'll lose hours of your day CASING her, so watch out :D
  4. OK, Adela over at Creations by AR -- holy smoke.  She's a full fledged artist.  Adela and I are both in the Stamping with Beate Yahoo group.  Adela started sharing her creations and it became quite obvious that she's brilliant.  I was thrilled when I discovered that she had a blog.  I was not surprised when I tagged everything she made in my Google Reader :D
  5. Rebecca at Hemidemisemiquaver knocks my socks off.  I don't actually know Rebecca, I'm just a big fan.  I can't pronounce the name of her blog.  That would be odd fact #8 if I was allowed that many.  My favorite thing about this blog is that she doesn't limit herself to cards -- she does beautiful jewelry and home decor all made with the stamps!
  6. Patty's Stamping Spot is a new favorite. Check out the card organizer!
  7. Kirsten at Confessions of a Naptime Stamper is one of my first "favorite" stampers.  Before blogging, I had half of Kirsten's SCS gallery tagged in my favorites album.  Follow the link to her blog and you'll see her adorable Easter Peeps gift.

OK, now that was way too hard. Because of my "Best of the Blogosphere", I read hundreds (yes, hundreds) of paper crafting blogs.  Picking just seven bloggers is virtually impossible.  None the less, the game must go on....

Babies, Babies, Everywhere!

baby onsie-2

I can't take any credit for these adorable onsie cards -- they've been popping up all over SCS lately.   They are the standard 4.25x5.5 size, just shaped a bit to look like a onsie.  They are ridiculously simple to make and receive very high praises. You don't need a template -- cut your cardstock to size, with the fold at the top.  Punch the neckline out with a large circle punch, and do the same with the bottom corners of the card to form the leg holes.  Measure down about 1 1/2 inches from the top and in about 1/2 inch -- cut from there to the top of the leg hold and you've formed the sleeves and sides.

Since I had all my supplies out, I created a stockpile.  Here are my samples.  All of them have the design in the center "popped up".

Best of the Blogosphere: March 8 - 14, 2008

Wow.  It was wedding week -- lots of wedding favors and cards, and lots and lots of great stuff from Papertrey.  I have to tell you that they have a phenomenal business concept going -- they convince me that I NEED every single new stamp set before it even comes out.  Remind me to start making stamps soon, and to hire the very best designers to help me create demand!

As always, remember to hit "read more" at the bottom of this post to see the full list with pictures.  Also, if you'd like to be considered for BOB, I need to read your blog!  Post a comment here, and I'll be happy to add you to my Google Reader.  Have a great weekend!

Glittery Birthday

glitter birthday-1

Have I mentioned before that I have about a million birthdays in March and April?  I sat down and made a whole bunch of birthday cards -- this is just one of them.  I used chipboard letters covered with glitter.   It's really, really sparkly and there is glitter all over my desk :D  I love it!
